Dual Screens make your staff more productive

Michael Felder - Monday, June 20, 2011
Did you know that putting two screens on the desk of your desk will increase the amount of work you get through every day?

We see this often, after suggesting to client that having more screen real estate will make a big difference to the productivity.

You think about it, if your email could always be open on a screen by itself and you didn't have to switch back and forth each time you wanted to search for an email or write a new message.

Count the number of seconds to switch to email and back again, multiplied by the number of times in the hour your switch back to check your email or search. Lets say it takes 5 seconds each time and you do it every 5 minutes while working, thats 1 minute gained each hour you gain. Thats 8 minutes a day, 40 minutes a week, etc.

You get the picture.

But I don't need to look at my email so often I hear you say.

The same principal applies to people who refer to Excel documents while using MYOB or Quickbooks. Having excel open while you use MYOB and being able to view both at the same time is also a big time saver. Or just copiying data from Excel to Excel.

I am sure you can think of your own examples.

We are happy to discuss the best way to mount the extra screen or just sit it on the desk. This system will even work if you have a terminal server.
