Phone iTunes failed to start after the latest update

After you have updated iTunes using the latest Apple Software Update iTunes fails to start.

You get the following error:

This application failed to start because msvcr80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

To fix it is annoying. You need to uninstall iTunes and the 4 other apple programs installed on your computer.

Uninstall the programs in the following order:

  • iTunes
  • Apple Software Update
  • Apple Mobile Device Support
  • Bonjour
  • Apple Application Support
  • iCloud
  • Mobile Me

Restart your computer.

Download the latest iTunes from the apple website. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Run the iTunes installation and you should be right.

Also hopefully apple puts out a new update that doesn’t cause so much grief and quickly.
